Today we're excited to feature Farmer Jose, grower and owner of G Farms, a family-owned farm located in Exeter, California. We first met Farmer Jose at our local Farmers Market in Southern California. Below he graciously shares a glimpse at everyday life on the farm. A huge thanks to Farmer Jose and all the hardworking farmers for providing us with fresh produce everyday!

Q. What is the name of your farm? Where is it located?

A. Exeter, California in the Central Valley

Q. What are the growing seasons? What types of fruits and vegetables do you grow?

A. May - September we grow stone fruit such as peaches, nectarines, plums, apricots, and cherries.

Q. G Farms is certified organic.  What does this mean to you?

A. For me, being certified organic is to grow your fruit as healthy as possible without having to loose a lot of your crop.

Q. Do you work in the fields? What other types of things do you do on the farm?

A. Yes, I work in the fields Monday to Friday.  On the weekend, I travel down south to sell our product. My job in the fields consists of picking, pruning, thinning, and watering.

Q. Aside from Farmers Markets, where else do your products go?

A. My produce goes to packing houses. Packing houses then sell our fruit locally or to other states and countries.

A. No, I originally wanted to be an auto mechanic.
